Who Is Tim?
My name is Tim Brinkmann and while I'd prefer to answer your questions in person at my store, you will always have 24-hour access to my wine and spirits knowledge on my Ask Tim page. My background and my passion both lie in the wine and spirits industry, with over 10 years experience as a spirits wholesaler and 9 years in fine wine distribution. I opened Brinkmann's Wine & Spirits because I love to discover new wines and spirits and I have a great appreciation for the evolution, growth, and maturity of existing brands. Please come visit me in the store so we can talk shop, or feel free to interact with me here. Just remember: Good, Better... Brinkmann's!

Jim asked Tim -
Until I can convince my wife that we need to build a wine celler, what is the best alternative option for storing my wines? I have a fairly large collection, which obviously fluctuates.
Tim responded -
It is important to know that wine should be stored in a room where the temperature stays the same. It's bad for the wine to be exposed to temperatures that flunctuate. If wine is kept in a warm room it will mature quickly. It is also important to store your wine away from windows and where there is a lot of light can be exposed to the bottle. Light can destroy your wine. Storing your wine on its side is a great technique for keeping the air out of the bottle, becuase when the bottle is on its side the wine saturates the cork which will prevent aid from getting in the bottle. Cheers, Jim!
