Who Is Tim?
My name is Tim Brinkmann and while I'd prefer to answer your questions in person at my store, you will always have 24-hour access to my wine and spirits knowledge on my Ask Tim page. My background and my passion both lie in the wine and spirits industry, with over 10 years experience as a spirits wholesaler and 9 years in fine wine distribution. I opened Brinkmann's Wine & Spirits because I love to discover new wines and spirits and I have a great appreciation for the evolution, growth, and maturity of existing brands. Please come visit me in the store so we can talk shop, or feel free to interact with me here. Just remember: Good, Better... Brinkmann's!

Misty asks Tim – It's almost May, which means off to the Derby (well at least in our family). We are having a derby get together this year and would love to serve Mint Juleps of course. Also, we recently purchased a bottle of your Blanton's Whiskey from the Brinkmann's Barrel, which we love. Do you think the Blanton's Single Barrell Whiskey Bourbon will work for a mint julep?

Tim responds

First, I want to say I'm not surprised you love the Blanton's Single Barrel Whiskey Bourbon the spicy yet sweet taste never lets me down. Blanton's whiskey will be perfect for a mint julep! The flavor starts off spicy with an aroma of dried citrus caramel and vanilla, the amazing flavor doesn't stop there with a burst of burnt sugar, honey, orange zest, and cloves on the home stretch. Just thinking about it make me want a mint julep. I would purchase a couple of extra bottles, just in case... these mint juleps are going to be a hit! I have placed a personal mint julep favorite on the Recipe Archive Page of our site.

Cheers! Tim
